Eyvör NCC-IS awards grants
There was great interest in Eyvör NCC-IS cyber security grants, which were confirmed on January 19th when Mr. Eyjólfur Ármannsson, the Minister of Infrastructure, signed agreements to award cyber security grants to 14 projects.
This is he third grant award in the last two years. A total of 48 applications were received, more than ever before, which highlights the growing interest in the grants and the increased momentum in cyber security issues in Iceland.
“Interest in Eyvör’s cyber security grants has always been considerable, but this year’s allocation received more applications than ever before. This reflects both the great work within the Icelandic cyber security community and the clear need for increased funding for projects in this field. It is precisely Eyvör’s role and desire to support innovation and strengthen the competence of Icelandic society in the field of cyber security,” says Hrannar Ásgrímsson, Eyvör’s project manager.
All applications for Eyvör cybersecurity grants are evaluated by an expert committee, which submits a recommendation to the board regarding the allocation of grants. Following the board’s approval, the allocations are confirmed by the Minister, after which grant agreements are concluded with the beneficiaries. The objective of the grants is to strengthen Iceland’s cyber security capacity and to support the Icelandic cyber security community through active and robust European cooperation in the field of cyber security.
Eyvör is Iceland’s center of competence in the field of cyber security and is part of the Cyber security Division of the Icelandic Telecommunications Authority (ECOI) and is a project funded by the European Union, with the support of ECCC.
